神よ。あなたは私の神。私はあなたを切に求めます。水のない、砂漠の衰え果てた地で、私のたましいは、あなたに渇き、私の身も、あなたを慕って気を失うばかりです。詩篇 63:1
「トイレットペーパーがない」の方がわかりやすいかもしれませんね。水がないところ、想像しにくいですね。私たちは食物、飲物、衣類、住む家などは当たり前にある生活を慣れてますね。これらの物が無い状態に急になると、不便を感じながら、今まで感謝していなかった物に対して、感謝な心が生まれできます。「無いけどどうしても欲しい」、そういう熱心さで神様との親しい関係を求めましょう。

O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;

Right now, it would be easier to understand if this verse said " a land where there is no toilet paper." When we are used to having ample food, water, clothes, and a place to live, it is hard to imagine a life without these things. But, if we were suddenly put into a situation like that, we would quickly learn to be thankful for the things we had. We need too long for a close relationship with God in the same way that we would be longing for water in the desert.
