王に申しあげた、「どうぞ王よ、長生きされますように。わたしの先祖の墳墓の地であるあの町は荒廃し、その門が火で焼かれたままであるのに、どうしてわたしは悲しげな顔をしないでいられましょうか」。
ネヘミヤ記 2:3
門や壁の目的はなんでしょうか？様々な目的があると思いますが、一番すぐ思いつくのは、中にいる者を天候や敵から守るためです。アメリカ大統領が壁を作ると言い出した時、大きな批判を受けましたが、当然のことしか言いませんでした。
それと同じように、ネヘミヤはエルサレムの門や城壁を再建する夢がありました。神様の宮や民を守るために不可欠な働きでした。
「壁を壊そう」と言う多様な時代である今、壁の目的や必要性を忘れないで欲しい。霊的な壁を作り、自分の心を守り、聖別された人になりましょう。

And said unto the king, Let the king live for ever: why should not my countenance be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers' sepulchres, lieth waste, and the gates thereof are consumed with fire?

What is the purpose of a wall? There are many, but the first that comes to mind is to protect those inside from weather and enemies......
When President Trump declared he would build a wall, he was ridiculed, but yet he only had stated the obvious. In the same way, Nehemiah had a desire to rebuild the walls and gates of Jerusalem. It was an essential project in order to protect God's city and God's people. People in this global world where anything goes, want to tear down walls. Please remember the purpose of walls. Build spiritual walls and be separated.
